About Me

  • I'm just trying to get out with my sanity. God is and always will be my first love. Second comes: My country, my family, my music, and my friends who I never see (but not necessarily in that order).

  • I read Cloistered Homeschooled Syndrome (part 1, 2, and letters from readers) in NGJ and I have to say that thus far I totally agree with part 1. Part 2 is about honoring your parents and I still have some questions about Michael Pearl's interpretation on that subject so I have no comment about part 2. The letters that people sent in confirming the problem talked about in the article are just overwhelming. I'm all riled up now. How parents can treat their children in such a manner is beyond me.

    Music Game

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play.

Let's see who can guess the most correctly. Googling the lyrics is cheating!

    1.
Must it take a life for hateful eyes to glisten once again

    2. I've been around for you, been up and down for you, but I just can't get any relief

    3. The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out, the ones that crawl in are lean and thin

    4. I am an orphan, on God's highway

    5. Well it's warm inside, let's take a midnight ride, I wanna show ya

    6. Woke up this morning and the sun refused to shine, looked everywhere tryin' to find that gal of mine

    8. I'm on my way from misery to happiness today

    9. Let grasses grow and waters flow in a free and easy way

    12. Motorway food is the worst in the world, you've never eaten food like you've eaten on a motorway

    13. It was Sunday mornin' I was seven years old, in the backyard playin' in a big mudhole

    14. If I ever leave this world alive, I'll thank ye

    15. Over yonder in the graveyard, where the wild, wild flowers grow

    16. From the moment I first met you, I knew I should turn and run

    17. I was there when the men came and told us all the news, Father forgive them, for they know not what they do

    Virginia and North Carolina

Just some highlights and humorous points of my trip in chronological order (I think).

    • I was awake at 2:55am on Sunday morning, after only three hours of sleep. Dad, Mom, and I left at 4:30am and arrived in Amherst at 5:00pm. We had to kill about three hours so after an adventure to find a place to eat, we gave up and settled for a very dirty Wendy's.
    • Edward and I watched Hot Fuzz and he fell asleep on me. Thankfully I have the same TV and Bose system so I didn't have to wake him up when the movie was finished.
    • I attempted to take the fastest shower in my life (the A's were having water problems). I got just wet enough to turn the water off and lathered up (I was basically a big ball of soap). Once I was all soapy I turned the water back on to rinse off. Well, surprise! There was no water coming out of that faucet. I wrapped up in a towel and called for Mom. She rinsed out my hair in the kitchen sink (everyone else was working, no worries) and then filled up a big cup with water so I could rinse my body off. Talk about a disaster.
    • My parents and I went out to breakfast. They wanted to try some sketchy place called Biscuitville (how creepy!) but settled for a little diner instead. Then they dropped me off at the Anderson's store where they said goodbye to me and headed home. I helped Mrs. A and Jana (kinda) until Edward came to pick us up. There was also a guy who gave professional Oud lessons that came in and was showing us the instrument. That was pretty neat.
    • I ate genuine fried chicken and spoonbread (it's kinda like German pancakes) for the first time.
    • I took a freezing cold shower at Kyle's. That was awful, but at least the water didn't cut off on me.
    • Edward took Rhonda and I to dinner at Traveler's. They had pretty tasty fries. Then we watched Saw. I hated the pig costume, the annoying girl, and the acting.
    • I watched The Orphanage and The Departed. Then I went down to the garage and watched Edward and Mr. A work on a car. The satellite radio was the best part.
    • When Edward and I were driving up to his boss' house, the lady in front of us stops suddenly. She just stopped! We were going about 45mph. Well after a few choice words from me and Edward's sick skills, we slide to a stop inches from this lady's car. I couldn't have opened my door, that's how close we were. I rolled down my window and she says, "I'm sorry but there was a little dog! I didn't want to hit it! I'm so sorry I didn't even see you behind me."
    • Edward, Derek, and I watched Mirrors starring Keifer Sutherland. It was an awful movie. Then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings where I met Jared for the first time.
    • Edward, Jared, Serena, Sheila, Krista, and I hiked the Devil's Marble Yard. Google that and look at the pictures, just amazing! After that we went to an ice cream shop that had really yummy mango peach sorbet (pronounced sore-bay!). Then I made the two boys take a picture with me (it turned out pretty bad) and said goodbye to Edward.
    • Friday, I accompanied (more like got in the way of) Jared and Mr Y to work. We took a 1980s GMC dumptruck to a cornfield that was on an island. We had to cross a river in the dumptruck to get to the island! I thought that was pretty funny. Afterwards, Jared and I went to Starbucks to meet Sheila and Serena so we could drop him off with his brother Leonard so he could go to SC for Leonard's deep sea fishing trip bachelor party. When we got home Sheila, Serena, and I watched some of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We were all too tired to finish it.
    • I woke up at 6:00am because Mrs. Y and Serena had to drive me to NC for the wedding. Ashley was supposed to pick me up at 9:30am. Well, after ten minutes had passed I called her cell phone and Sarah picked up. I asked when Ashley was going to pick me up and Sarah replied, "She's in the bathroom!" So we got directions to the wedding location and Mrs. Y had to drop me off there.
    • After they left, I was pretty much alone until I met Miana. She and I went to lunch and picked food up for Ashley and Sarah, for when they showed up at the farm.
    • Chaos. Ashley planned the wedding and did her hair and make-up by herself so it was a bit hectic trying to get everything ready in time. I don't know how but we pulled it off and were only a half hour late. The ceremony was gorgeous.
    • I crawled into bed at Ashley's parent's house at about 1:45. Ashley had a memory foam mattress so I slept wonderfully.
    • We (Mr. and Mrs. P, Sarah, and I) left for home at around 2:00pm. After deciding that we shouldn't eat at Hooters, we drove back into Virginia where we stayed with the H's, old friends of the P's.
    • The next morning we left for NH at 10:00am. The only eventful thing that happened during the 13+ hour ride was that I saw the price of gas as low as $2.32 and my MP3 player died 15 minutes after I turned it on.
Here is a link for pictures, cause I'm too lazy to post them on here. Unfortunately I didn't take many. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2001549&l=9d76d&id=1328040102

    The end.
